I have my perfect schedule for next year! Of course, it needs to be validated by Paris III (by three people), and it depends on courses not changing their hours and seats being left. But unless something goes wrong (and rest assured, it will, I'm just hoping it'll be minor), here is what it looks like:

1st term
Canadian Society - Mondays & Wednesdays, 16:00-17:30
Social Inequality - Tuesdays & Thursdays, 9:30-11:00
Gender, Education and Popular Culture - Tuesdays, 14:00-17:00

2nd term
Canadian Society - Mondays & Wednesdays, 16:00-17:30
Sociology of sexualities - Tuesdays & Thursdays, 16:00-17:30
Socialization and education - Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays, 14:00-15:00

It all fits really well with the idea of researching what's being done to fight homophobia in schools, so not only do I love the prospect of all these classes, they could also be really helpful if I do write my research paper on actions in Canadian schools about homophobia. God, I so want to start going to school! I'm such a nerd! (And that's 4 classes out of 5 in the sociology department, that sets a pretty clear path towards Canadian grad school if that becomes a possibility...)

Lots of random stuff because I'm bored out of my mind doing paperwork for the MAG and can't focus.

Remember when I told you guys to check out Eric's blog? He's recently put up two mp3 to show the evolution of his voice over the months. It's impressive, really. And awesome for him.

Here's a BBC article about unusual foreign words. It's a bit nerdy, but I love it and I'm not ashamed of it! I particularly like the "mi esposa, mis esposas" bit. *g*

Finally, [livejournal.com profile] inxsomniax shared a picture of her two cats, and it's a gorgeous picture of two absolutely adorable cats, so I had to share.

That is all! I'm watching way too much Friends lately, but it's fun and addictive.

EDIT : Okay, [livejournal.com profile] miss_kao pointed it out and the more I think about it, the more I absolutely love that word from the BBC article.
"The Fuegians (from Tierra del Fuego) have a succinct word - 'mamihlapinatapai' and it means 'two people looking at each other each hoping the other will do what both desire but neither is willing to do'."
I don't know how, but I'm so using that word one day. It's absolutely brilliant.

I'm just back from QuinceaƱera, neutrally translated into "Echo Park, L.A." in French. The movie's brilliant, partly because it's bilingual Spanish/English and seriously, I love that - languages mixing, not only in a conversation, but within a sentence. Also the male lead looks really good, especially when he's shirtless (sadly I haven't yet been able to find caps of him shirtless online).

It's still somewhat of a mystery to me, how close I feel to the characters and the setting, even though I spent barely one week in L.A. and know nothing about being a Mexican teenager there. It still... feels familiar. The whole American culture. The way teens speak, what girls talk about. I probably grew up in the US in another life, that's gotta be the reason.

Somewhat related, just watching the trailer for United 93, which comes out tomorrow here, is scaring me a bit. The potential for pain is, like, HUGE. Scar just waiting to be opened again, and overall it looks like the kind of movie that gets to me. I'm bracing myself for angst, big time.

Also, since this is sort of a geeky/nerdy post... I've started Brave New World, and so far it's not as good as I was hoping for. I should go back to a book for school afterwards, but I kinda want to start The evolution man. Also, I should read in bleedin' FRENCH at some point. Seriously.
