I asked
queenspanky to tag me...

By me.
This is an icon of Chris Lowell kissing co-star Patrick Flueger at a Sundance event. I have a thing for Chris Lowell though those of you who know me will also know that this has lot to do with the shaggy surfer boy haircut. I just love boys with hair falling in front of their eyes. As for this icon, I simply adore it because it's boy showing affection for each other and that's awesome. I just love everything in that icon, the slightly pink haze, the way Chris is leaning to press a kiss to Patrick's cheek, how Patrick's suppressing a smile, the arm around Chris's shoulder and the hand that falls casually. It's really not for its slash value that I choose it, I chose it more because it's a kiss between guy friends, I love the simplicity of the kiss and the situation. That icon I made myself.

I don't know who made this! Possibly

Jennifer Aniston. Oh, where do I start? That woman is simply stunning, and is so much more radiant and beautiful now than I think she was during the first couple of seasons in Friends. But Jen herself isn't the reason why I love that icon - it's the photographic value of it that I love: the light, how the background is saturated with white, the colors, the blue tint that colors the whiteness of the icon, the lines of it, the perfect curve of her body and how easy and simple it seems to be holding that position, there's something very ethereal about that icon. Like she's floating in that world of whites and light blues.

A person can never have too many Buffy icons, because it's still one of my favorite shows and the one I grew up with and I love those characters to bits. Plus this one just amuses me. Especially Xander with his head tilted in the background. I like simplicity in my icons - I've moved to a place where there's very little text in my icons because I like to let the images speak for themselves, but occasionally, the text is discreet and works well (or is hilarious, that's another category), like is the case here.

That one just cracks me up. It's a quote by Jewel Staite and Alan Tudk, from the commentary of the Firefly episode "The Message", where Simon and Kaylee hold hands for the first time (it's taken them fifteen episodes...). I think that quote is seriously funny, maybe more so because I can hear them say it, and I just have big, huge love for the Big Damn Heroes so I like having a quote by two of them amongst my icons. Those people are awesome, and what's even better, they're hilarious and I've loved meeting all of them. So that icon is just funny but it's also a tribute to how much I love the BDHs.

Jon Stewart. Politics and snark and funny and genuineness. The last one is why I like Jon better than Colbert, he doesn't play a character and I love him best when he seems most honest in his reactions. I like that icon because it's so serious and pensive, so unlike the show itself, but to me it touches upon something essential that underlies the show, and that's the constant disappointment and frustration with current government policy and American politics in general, while still believing in - and belonging to - America. Clinging on to beliefs and values.

Again, there's a photographic appeal to this icon. Light and shadows, the way that it defines the hand and fingers so clearly, and the chest, too. I love the crop, too, I think it's a huge part of what makes this icon sexy, there's so much eroticism in the unseen, the imagined, the fantasized. And it's an embrace, which I love.

By me.
This is Charlie Hunnam - another boy I adore particularly when he's got the shaggy haircut like here. Besides being an excellent actor, Charlie has a lot of amazing photoshoots out there, and they're a huge part of my fascination with him. That icon is from one of those series and I love the association of black and white with the look he's got in his eyes. And the way his hair falls frames his face and hides his eyes a little, which makes his gaze more powerful. Basically this whole icon is photographic love, it doesn't really matter who's on it. Charlie is just bonus.
