His stance is interesting. I just hope it's not read as «let's buid a new masculinity», because it will just end up reiterating the traditional binary devide between men and women, whose consequence is sexism and homophobia.

I agree that eschewing from using violence is crucial if humanity is to survive. It is something that preoccupies me as much as you, I guess. Trying to address it effectively led me to believe it is important to find its roots rather than constantly nip at its base. I still have to articulate it clearly, but for me it boils down to uprooting all acts of domination, regardless of which sex commits it (though we may assume in all certainty that acts of massive destruction are mainly the product of men's actions). And these thrive in everyday interactions. (found something interesting on that, I might post it at some later time)

I'd love to see it on a wall or something - and I'm not a huge fan of some of the effects, but the concept, the ideas promoted? It's amazing. And I LOVE that Nathan would stand up to promote this sort of vision. *loves the Captain*

Absolutely agreed with your analysis of violence - we need to address why we promote violence (and we do, particularly in fiction) no matter the gender. It does remain true though that we tend to produce hegemonic masculinities where sheer force and domination over others is viewed positively - and in that way, I like the project, because rebuilding masculinity by ceasing to link it with domination can only work in favor of a healthier society in my opinion. After all, we can disregard the fact "real masculinity" often remains defined by force and violence much more than "real femininity" (understatement).

That guy is Nathan Fillion, and if you don't know who he is, you absolutely NEED to discover Firefly, the main series he's starred in. It's an amazing, brilliant show created by Joss Whedon. Nathan also happens to be a very very cool guy, as shows his involvement in this project. :)

Yeah, I know - that's why I said that actually, I wish *I* could see it on a wall, but since I'm probably not going to be in London anytime soon, that's not gonna happen. :) very curious to find out where it's going to be projected, though.
