First batch of pictures from Serenity3

So, I've narrowed it down to 131 pictures from this weekend. Which is still way too much to actually post on LJ. I've divided the pictures in five categories, and the two first have like 12 pictures in it, so I'll be posting that. And the rest, I'll post a few pictures as "previews" and then give a link to my Scrapbook.
But most importantly!!!
Fan''s report is up! In several parts because it's so huge! You have Opening ceremony + Meet and Greet, Saturday (with all the talks) and Sunday (talks + signing). Kudos to her for putting this up so quickly, seriously. *smooches*
And it made me laugh this morning because in this other report, a girl reported Sean waving at someone during the contest on Saturday, thought he was waving at her. Made me realize probably fifteen people out there are absolutely certain that wave was directed at them. Heh.
Anyway! On to some pictures, mostly shots of the convention itself and a few "body shots", those shots were I cut out the head to keep just the body. I find body positions and lines fascinating like that. And believe me, you want to click. There's a special shot at the end at that batch.

Inevitable ass shot

Date: 2006-10-27 07:32 pm (UTC)As I said, if price hadn't mattered, I would have gone for Canon, but for purely irrational reasons : my film camera is a Canon and so I'd have liked to kept that "tradition" (ultimately, that's what the whole Canon/Nikon thing is about). But I'm super happy with my Nikon camera. I hear Canon has more possibilities of lenses, but I'm not sure.
Honestly, if money isn't an issue, I'd say go into a store, have a look at the models you're interested it (the equivalent of the Nikon D50 is the Canon EOS 350) and ask to try them out - see what they weight, what hold you have on them. Quality in the photographs they take is similar - what matters is which one you'll like best when you touch it. :)

This is a catalog company that my professor suggested. I was going to buy used instead of new, just because price is an issue. He said, if I am going to buy used, this is the only place I should buy from, because they refurbish the equipment, and because they have a reputation. If you scroll around their site, they are price competitive from anything I've seen. Also, he says he's ordered from them and he's never had a problem, either with getting things or if he ever had to return them.
I did go and try to hold the cameras. Both felt ok, I guess. I'm still so new at this. I just, I want a camera for flan, but I have no way that I can afford a grand. Not with school and bills. This place has a 90 plan, so I wouldn't have to pay till February. Which would work for me, because I'd have my school loan refund by then, I am supposed to get it sometime in January.
I'm just worried, you know? Like ok, I'll get a, and then I'll regret it and wish I got b, and then I'll be stuck with a. *wibble*

Date: 2006-10-27 09:41 pm (UTC)I totally get the worried thing, did quite a bit of worrying myself when I was thinking about which camera to get. But honestly, if you go for either Canon or Nikon with SLR cameras? You can't go wrong. They're both excellent and I'm sure they'll both make you super happy. :)

Date: 2006-10-27 10:11 pm (UTC)That's also what I would say about the possible difference between Canon and Nikon as far as skin tones and such - if there is a difference, it's not going to be glaring. It's mostly about learning how to use your camera - I think once you get a hold of how it works, you can get pictures that are just as good from either camera, and either brand.
If price's an issue, check the prices you can find for those two models - that might give your answer. :)
