All right, so I've been asked by Elodie to start looking for LGBT movies suitable to be shown at la Nuit Rose, our annual LGBT movie festival. The festival is composed of 3 feature movies and 3 short movies, so I'm looking for both. And that's where I need your help.

Does any of you know a (fairly recent) feature or short movie that they really, really loved? What's the website / contact for that movie?

Any idea of where I can look for potential movies and contacts? (I've started looking through AfterEllen.com since they review a lot of movies.)

The movie can be fun or serious, it doesn't matter (we need both) but it needs to be good. *g* For example, last year we showed April's shower, Poster boy and Eating Out. And D.E.B.S is a perfect example of a movie that could be shown at the festival.

Thanks for any help you can get me. :) (I've made this entry public in case you'd like to direct anyone that could help to it.)

Hey! Sorry I haven't been commenting on your lj entries, but a lot of shit's been happening. Will you be on AIM anytime soon? (Like, in the next few days.) If so, would any time be preferable for you to talk? I just broke up with Lauren and I'm a complete mess, and you're great to talk to. I don't want to take up your time if you're busy, but it'd really help to be able to talk, even just a little bit.

Yes, I can connect on AIM... I guess I'm usually more available either in the morning or after 1PM but if you see me online, just talk to me (my schedule is kinda hectic right now). You won't be bothering me any case. *hug*

Not really related, since it hasn't been released yet and so there's no way you can get it, but I heard Ang Lee's latest movie, "Brokeback Mountain", was kinda gay-related (ok, the "kinda" shouldn't even be there ;-) ). And it won the "Lion d'Or" at Venice, so it may be good.
*looks at the cast and dies*
And it has my little Jake. *cough* Hum, sorry.

Brokeback was an obvious one, but I'm afraid 1) it'll be released in theaters before the Nuit Rose and 2) it'll be way too expensive for us to afford, considering it's getting a lot of press coverage and it has very famous people...

*Before* the Nuit Rose??? When is it to take place? I thought it was before the end of the year, not after, and Brokeback is released here in january or something.
...
Hmmm... Ok, I think I messed up totally the date for that event.

Anyway, I knew you couldn't get it. Just had to point the film out, in case you had missed it, since I didn't see any press coverage. Granted, I didn't see any press coverage on anything since before last summer... ;-)

The Nuit Rose usually takes place late April. Otherwise it'd be wayyyy too late to start looking for movies...

And don't worry, I've heard about Brokeback all right, and have been hearing about it for a while, too. Partly cuz of Jake, but also because, hello, gay cowboys. :)

Ok, late April. *remembers Bee with fondness* Er, sorry. *eg*

Yeah, Jake and gay cowboys. What more should be said?
Jake *as* a gay cowboy... Gnnnnhh...

Uh? You sure you're not mixing up the Paris Gay & Lesbian Movie Festival and the Nuit Rose? Sounds like that to me. :) The Paris GL Movie Festival is late October.

Yeah, that totally makes sense now. That's why I had dates mixed up! I combined both in one event. ;-)

Merci pour l'idée... non je ne crois pas qu'il faut que ce soit des films ciné, du moment que ce n'est pas trop connu et donc que pas trop de monde va l'avoir vu :)

Hey
How recent do they have to be? And what if they have been released already, but probably in a limited amount of theatres?
I was searching something through my DVDs today, and found back "Blue Gate Crossing". I think I had loved it.

Ah, well, I suppose it doesn't qualify anyway, too old. And released. *g*

Well, it's not that they have to be recent (though it's much better), but we have to make sure not too many people will have seen it... and with an old movie, that likeliness of that possibility is much higher :)
