I was going to wait until this has gone through Congress and is final, but it's going to take another 30 days and there's no reason for Congress to block this, so whatever, let's break out the party hats now!

Same-sex marriage is going to be legal in Washington DC. Yay, etc. Now if the rest of the country could get on with the program, that'd be great, kthxbai.

To celebrate (?) I am finishing all my American grad applications before flying home. Only McGill and UBC left!

I do some work up on the Hill and based on what I'm hearing so far, yeah, I think your safe being optimistic about that :) Now if only the rest of the country would catch up!

That's a creative way of celebrating. Perhaps I should finish my physics homework? Nah, it's not due 'til monday.
About the actual subject of your post, I had heard about it, but I was still waiting for it to be final until getting the party hats out. The USA have disappointed me way too often. (Then again, Germany isn't much better. You have civil unions, with all the obligations of marriage and none of the advantages. Now why don't you shut up and go live happily ever after?)

I cherish the teeny tiny corners of sanity in my vast country.
