The list of student selected by Paris III to go to Canada next year has been released.

People! I'M GOING TO UBC!!!!!!

Officially, UBC hasn't accepted my application yet (we won't know if they have before late May), but since they have a partnership with my school, chances that someone selected at my school would be turned down by UBC are very low. So it's pretty much a done deal.


I'm so excited, and at the same time it's like I can't believe it. I'm going back to North America. I'm going back to school in North America. I'm going back to Vancouver. It's almost too good to be true. I still have that memory of when I was 9 and my mom pointed to Vancouver on a map to show me when you go to see orcas, and it seemed like the other end of the world to me. Some unreachable place. And now I'm going to live there for a year. I still find something extraordinary about that.

WHEEEEE!!! :) So what are you going to do there? What kind of classes?
And when you say next year is it next September or next January?

My classes are probably going to be mostly History and Philosophy classes. Hopefully I'll get to sign up for some Women's Studies classes!

And I'm talking next September, since I'm going for a whole full year to start. Wheeee!

I'm so jealous I love History! Is it going to be like ancient history or like 20th century history? Anyway I'm sure it'll be awesome. :)

I know someone who's doing gender studies here in Sydney, apparently it's really good. She's from that uni in the US called Sarah Lawrence or something? She says it's the "lesbian uni". :p

Wow next September, that's really soon! So that would be....your first year of masters?

I'd loooove to visit you but going to Vancouver is more expensive than going to Europe for some reasons... So maybe not, but if you wanna visit Australia I'll be there until... 2008? 2009? Forever? :p

Probably going to be recent history, probably US history too. What sucks is that it has to match (approximately) with the classes I'd be following if I was going to Paris III, so I'm not totally free in the choice of classes.

And yep, it'll be my Master 1, meaning I have a research paper to write and then to present when I come back in France in May... yay?

I would have loved to major in gender studies if I'd gone to college in an English-speaking country. I've never heard of Sarah Lawrence, just know of Smith, which is also a big dyke university. *g*

Heee! I would love the opportunity to visit Australia at some point. I have to!
