New fosters: Lemon and Sapphire

I really want to rant about a couple of French things (namely the recent "controversy" around an anti-homophobia video for grade 4s and 5s, and the "controversy" about the woman with a head scarf who became involved in a political party) but it's almost midnight and I have more fun things to share, aka KITTENS.

Wednesday Karen from VOKRA called asking if I could take on a wobbly kitten and his sibling, because it's way more practical for them to have these two in Vancouver (their previous foster home was further away) and I have experience with wobblers. I consulted with the roommates and today new kittens were delivered! They're 7 weeks old right now, and super sociable. Allie and Angie stopped by to meet them and the kittens are already doing so well. It's amazing. Lemon, who's the wobbly one, is actually doing pretty good considering - I just rewatched some of the old MeiMei videos and he's definitely not doing any worse than she was at 7 weeks. It makes me happy, I hope he finds a loving wonderful family quickly. :)

Anyway, here is a happy picspam!

Meet Lemon (the orange tabby) and Sapphire (the grey tabby)

Allie likes Lemon.

Allie also likes Sapphire, even if Sapphire is not super convinced by this display of affection.

As far as I'm concerned, it doesn't get much more wonderful than photos of Allie kissing and being snuggly with kittens, but there's a bunch more photos under the cut. :)

Sapphire is going to be an adventurer when she grows up.

Lemon wins at stretching!

Also at being fluffy and adorable.

Also at bedroom eyes.

But Sapphire totally wins at chasing things.

And soon, at ruling the world.

Not sure Allie can talk her out of it.

This shot makes Lemon seem far more stable and regal than he actually is! He always sits with his front paws super wide apart because it helps him not fall over.

My roommate Rebecca is pretty excited about the new kittens.

MeiMei is not super delighted with these newcomers yet, but earlier in a quiet moment I brought Lemon to her and she did hiss at first but then she was smelling him and even gave him a couple of tentative licks, so I'm sure we're good. :)

KITTENS! KITTENS, KITTENS, KITTENS! :D They are so adorable! (My parents are getting a new dog next month and I am already about as excited as a 6 year old on a sugar high.)

Puppy!! :D What kind of dog are they getting?

[identity profile] specialhell.livejournal.com 2010-02-05 06:39 pm (UTC)(link)
An airedale. It - or actually she, Dina - is adorable, my dad's shown me pictures of her and her 8 brothers and sisters and I nearly died of cute. We just have to wait a bit till she's old enough. In the meantime, I'm making a pro/con list to convince myself I MUST NOT move back home, but it's so hard when the pro side just has PUPPY in huge red letters and hearts all over the place! Have I mentioned that I'm suddenly six?! :D

Ack, gorgeous! I have a co-worker who fosters and puts the kittens' pictures on Facebook. I wish I could, but my two cats wouldn't have it, and I don't have a space I could dedicate to them.

Fuzzy bellies! *smooshes*

Kitties! They're so adorable! :D I'm sure MeiMei will adapt soon enough, and will be mothering them in no time.

Gah! Kittens! Sneider and I had lots of hand-flappy moments looking at these pictures this morning. Very adorable.

Sigh...we need a cat.

[identity profile] greenie-breizh.livejournal.com 2010-02-05 06:30 pm (UTC)(link)
You should look into fostering, that might help with the having a cat without worrying as much about cost. :)

If it were older cats, that would be fine...but as it is, we're simply not home enough. Especially if we were to foster a young cat or kitten. :-/

Awwwwwwww
I get to watch a friend's young cat tomorrow! She's so super cute! She also has some issues, though not as much as MeiMei and Lemon, and is in the process of being diagnosed. It may just be a kind of worm, or it may be cat AIDS or... what was that word? Leucocyte, something like that. Poor little girl...

[identity profile] greenie-breizh.livejournal.com 2010-02-05 06:24 pm (UTC)(link)
Aw! Share pictures! I hope she's OK :( The good thing about the condition that MeiMei and Lemon have is that it doesn't really affect them past the fact that they have trouble getting around. A disease can be much worse. :(

I want one! I want Lemon! He's just so adorable. &hearts I miss animals, my grandma had some when I was younger, but sadly this time is long gone.

Oh, look, they make Sean smile :) *icon*

Aww...
Any idea if that kind of fostering thing exists in France too?

[identity profile] greenie-breizh.livejournal.com 2010-02-05 06:38 pm (UTC)(link)
I have no idea! I would imagine yes, possibly? Especially around Paris where it's not easy to find space. You should call the SPCA (la SPA) and ask if they know of non-profit organizations who rescue animals / cats. It's not exactly a lucrative business so it's possible nobody's been able to do it, but you never know.

Je peux me renseigner si ça interesse.

OMG they are super adorable! And so tiny! Mine seem so big in comparison *g*. (And Sapphire looks just like Gracie <3.)

I hope they find good homes soon!

Best picspam ever. I love the one of affectionate Allie and indifferent Sapphire.
